How has your 2020 been so far? It has only been 6 days, but that's still early enough to make some positive intentions for yourself.

Every year I find myself making (and breaking) a new year's resolution. This year instead of a new year's resolution I am going to create a new year's intention. I prefer to set intentions for this year because it will help me stay on track with my goals. It's not about how many days a week I exercise or how much I increase my water intake (which are fine resolutions). It's about keeping your mental health on track.

Having intentions can help you stay focused on your goals and create a specific energy to guide you. It's not about accomplishing something. It is about how you treat yourself on the way to the goal. It is about how you treat yourself when you fail. It is about how you treat yourself when you try a different path.

Treating yourself with kindness is vital and I want you to make that one of your intentions for 2020. You can treat yourself with kindness when you are feeling happy, sad, strong, or even defeated.
